Deanna Ishawk, R.N., Thai Yoga Massage, Certified Hakomi Counsellor
Deanna has been a Registered Nurse for 20 years and is passionate about approaching health holistically. Originally from Hamilton Ontario, Deanna moved to British Columbia after completion of her Nursing Program where she has worked as a nurse in many different settings. Eventually her love of nature and community lead her settle in beautiful Powell River.
Her compassion and interest in how deep the connection between body and mind is, led Deanna to continue her studies in Yoga, Thai Massage Yoga Massage and Counselling.
Deanna is a Thai Yoga Massage Practitioner and is trained in Noad Bo-Ram (Northern Style) technique. She studied under Sharon Brown-Horton (Banyan Thai Massage) and Tara Anderson (Wild Lotus Yoga & Thai Massage) who are both Certified Teachers with the ITM International Training Massage School of Chiang Mai, Thailand. Deanna brings mindfulness to her practice, ensuring that each treatment is tailored specifically to her client’s needs.
Deanna is also a Certified Hakomi Counselling Practitioner, a form of somatic, mindful, counselling therapy. She feels strongly about the deep, nourishing, healing effects of this method and continues to attend trainings and workshops to deepen her skills.
Along with these therapies, yoga has always been a steadfast part of Deanna’s life. She is a Certified Yoga Teacher and is looking forward to teaching yoga in group classes after the pandemic has subsided.
Deanna believes in treating the person as a whole and works within the concept that the body and mind are deeply interconnected. She is passionate about helping people live healthier, happier lives.
In her free time, Deanna loves travelling and enjoys being active in Powell River’s great outdoors! She loves kayaking, hiking, snowboarding and biking, and is an avid gardener.
